Huda Fahmy

Author & Comic Artist

Turning bad hijab experiences on their head, American author Huda Fahmy uniquely and masterfully tells the truth about these real-life situations. And with humor! Every one of us have experienced love, misunderstanding, anger, and a deep desire for pizza. In Yes, I’m Hot in This, Huda’s clever comics demonstrate humor’s ability to bring us together, no matter how different we may appear on the surface.

Biography

Feeling very underrepresented as a hijab-wearing Muslim woman, Huda was motivated to write after the Muslim Ban was put in effect. She talks about using humor in her comics to cope with the real life situations Muslims experience on a daily basis. She also discusses her journey to finding her voice in art and writing. She describes the terror of learning a new skill, and the joy of growing more confident in her voice and expression. She also talks about how religion is often used to divide us, when we should be using it to highlight just how similar we actually are.

Fahmy connects with audiences by presenting a hilarious, relatable, and painfully honest story about life as a Muslim and how she uses humor to cope with the anxieties of her every day life that breaks down barriers and shows how universal our everyday problems, worries, and joys actually are.
